Hey! metal music fans… Are you there? If you are not, you should be here… ‘Cause there’s a new trash/metal band that is completely based on “The Simpsons” series.
Believe me, I’m not lying… they describe their sound as: “Not as fast as Bartcore, and a little cleaner than Krusty Punk. Not as heavy as Homer J.ent- Nedal is a happy medium in the Simpscene.” Of who I am talking about? Well it’s the Okilly Dokilly band (obviously, with a heavy emphasis on “kill” and “kill”) and the look of the most “sexy” and peculiar character: Ned Flanders.
If you haven’t heard anything about this band before, don’t worry… it just appeared like a couple of months ago, and their first show is going to be on September 5 (in their hometown). Just imagine a bunch of Ned Flanders on stage, shouting and screaming just like him… Heavy no?
Anyway I gave a try to the sound and songs, and they are pretty interesting. So, if you want to know more about this peculiar band; why don’t you take a look at their Okilly Dokilly Facebook ? You can also find which season or episode inspired each song, at their Bandcamp . (pretty good details).
Is everybody ready to know more about Head Ned, Red Ned, Thread Ned, Stead Ned, Bled Ned and their flanders-style screaming? Let’s check the next video
Why do nobody have thought about this before? That’s the only mystery left…
You know that when it’s Aniplex and PA WORKS the ones that are involved in the art of any series, they never fail at delivering high quality entertainment. So to begin with, you can expected that in Charlotte.
To be honest, at the beginning I thought it was another shoujo comedy, but it hits with an unexpected rise of tension and mystery, that hooks you and make you wait the next chapter. It’s a series that slowly wraps you up with its slow well done development and of course it has a lot of light-hearted funny moments, but also a ton of serious moments that make the plot moves at the right moment.
Don’t get confused… I’m not saying this is a master piece, but is a good story that will not ruin your time and will make you answer some questions:
What will you do, if you have supernatural abilities?
Will you use them for something personal or not?
Will you help others in the same situation?.
That’s it… the answers will come smoothly and in a funny easy way… in 13 chapters, where the story will give you the exactly amount of information, to make you love the characters, understand them and discover the answer to those questions.
Ok everybody, let me tell you something about this story: Absolutely and without a shadow of a doubt, this post is SHOUJO… Yes, I said Shoujo (C’mon!!… don’t run away).
Just for today, I’ll talk about this lovely, cute, MANLY ROMANCE story (yes, I said manly romance); which main character is a bulky giant teenager with no luck in love… or maybe it’s just his idea.
This is the new title of spring 2015 written by Kazune Kawahara of “High School Debut” and illustrated by Aruko. If we try to judge the anime by its bland title, could be easily to assume, that this is just another generic entry in a over-saturated romantic genre filled with the same old cliches, but to be honest it’s a story with some “extra touch” that gives us a different spin of the already known characteristics of shoujo.
Let’s see… We have Takeo Goro (our hero), his best friend Suna, and the girl Yamato. Three peculiar characters, between clumsy and antisocial, but innocent and with an amazing heart. In this case Takeo is precisely the type of character we tend to see relegated to the background (with bad luck and no dreams)… huge, with two tiny eyes and a pair of thick lips that can distract you from any idea. This is not the typical image of hero and is precisely what is going to make you want to know a little bit more about him and his story… a story where a “MANLY MAN” quiver and feel heart-warming emotions, that will awake the “butterflies” in his MANLY stomach. ok?
In a first person point of view, that keep us outside the characters heads, with a soft and pleasant artwork, lots of funny moments and zero melodrama… this is that type of stories that make you believe there is always a nice person with sincere feelings for you (somewhere) no matter your looks.
So… this is My Love Story!! the shoujo romance formula, that has changed a little bit 😉
Yeah, believe it or not this is not an anime with some deep meaning (at least, not yet) and of course not an anime that is planning to win a prize in storytelling. Without a specific time, full of “fighting scenes, action, great characters (each one with a specific story, that will never make you tired), the real star in this series is… The Food.
If you have ever felt a type of “ecstasy” when you eat something special, then this anime is the completely representation of that fascination an explainable feeling of joy, enjoyment and sometimes lust, that provide the taste of something awesome. To be honest is linking food with our most basic drives; something so natural and almost never used, that this is what it makes great this anime.
Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma… Food and SEX, may I have your attention, now?
The series follows Soma’s adventures from his family’s restaurant, which his father closed in order to travel and cook abroad, while he is enroll to the prestigious and highly elite Totsuki Culinary Academy. Because of the silent and healthy competition that Soma has with his father, he decided to accept the challenge of being in this Academy just to win to his father’s skills… without knowing the amount of interesting and ferocious students that are going to compete with him, to be the best of the best.
With colorful characters who are going to try to destroy Soma, this is a series that no matter how you watch it, food is more important than characters… but anyway, there’s no doubt that is very fun to watch and if you love cooking… you can certainly glean some new ideas from the foods presented, which are real cuisines from around the world.
No matter what, you will have a lot of laughs.
Only 200 pages (could be more, but there’s no need) a thriller story mixed with intrigue and a little bit of terror.
This is one of the last books written by Fernando Trujillo (a Spanish author of an amazing saga of books “La Biblia de los Caídos” not yet translated to english, but hope its going to happen soon).
A short and fascinating story of a teenager, who realized that he may not be a typical guy… in love with an impossible girl, with troubles at school and not an amazing relationship with his father. This young fella may find some special qualities not easily to be explained, and more than that… not easily to believe.
It’s an easy story you can’t stop reading, almost sure that it will take you no more than two days to realize, that everything can begin, in the middle of a museum, naked, with two strange twin girls staring at you.
**A book for weekend.
Rokka – Braves of the Six Flowers
A story told to us from the perspective of Adelete the most balanced character of the series self-proclaimed: strongest person in the world of the SIX BRAVE HEROES, so why can you see seven person instead of just six?, Well, that is one of the mysteries we will solve in this adventure, fantasy and action story.
With an “Aztec-looking” kingdom mixed with certain amount of fantasy and no traditional elements; this anime brings us a soft plot (so far) but make it up; with an exciting combat and a clever art direction. *** I need to point out, that is incredibly nice to see a colorful and gorgeous representation of pre-hispanic cultures with deep traditions, Gods and brave heroes.
Just released in July 5th and still on going… give a try 😉
Akame ga Kill! literally means “Akame Kills!”
This anime is base on the manga series Akame ga Kill, one of our favorite mangas; that you can read every month with out getting tired.
The story focuses on Tatsumi, a young villager who travels to the Capital to raise money for his home only to discover a strong corruption in the area. The assassin group Night Raid recruits the young man to help them in their fight against the Empire to end its corruption, starting a war between tyrannical corruption and a revolutionary army, and two, both equally interesting, teams to fight to protect what they believe in
Let’s beging with one of the best visual qualities of this anime production, and is that you are going to see how the themes can change very quickly in a blink of an eye, which makes it quite unique to other series out there. One moment you will be laughing at some ridiculous shenanigans, the next you will witness a bloody murder of a random character, or maybe even your favourite character.
The way the themes are blended together is done so well that can’t really be compare to anything else.
More than the gorgeous animation, we can talk about the soundtrack which makes everything suit perfect and more alive, mixing and completing all those feelingose feelings you got while reading the manga, with every song of this soundtrack. To be hones It’s a great amount of production quality, that make this an excellent work.
But if you’re a manga reader of the series and you are afraid of watching the show… Don’t worry!!! this is a great adaptation with some few changes near the end that can-t make you feel wrong. But if you’re a newcomer, then give a chance if you want to enjoy a: fun, dark with a considerably large amount of gore violence, interesting characters, solid plot and awesomeness.
It’s truly mind blowing but also heart breaking.
This is the movie nobody knows about it, until some weeks ago and that make many people guess… What is this all about?
Let’s start from the obvious part… if the name of George Lucas wasn’t all over the trailer, there’s no way to guess that he is the one in charge of this animation; because it doesn’t look, sound or feel like one of his stories, at all.
Watching the trailer is like having a feeling of something related to Shrek and The Dark Crystal, a world that is divided into a kingdom and a dark forest, which respectively serve as home to the traditionally “good” creatures (elves, fairies) and traditionally “bad” creatures (goblins) of all fantasy folklore.
But, one thing that nobody can denied is the animation work, that in simple words: Looks Terrific!….(go after the break to see it)
It’s a beautiful story line with a twisted characters, in a twisted world that can surprise you at any moment. Because it has a perfect amount of darkness to the plot, but not too much, something not depressing at all.
To be honest the visual novel is utterly fantastic, and the adaptation fortunately seems to be following very closely, as much as it can. Don’t trust, if you ever heard comments about the first episode alone; because this is just meant to set up the characters and settings.
Do not miss this one… because you may end up liking it.
Black Buttler: Book of Circus
For those who can´t get enough of Black Butler, here it comes a 3rd release of creepy, action, drama and dark comedy all together in a show, where Ciel and Sebastian will let you laugh, cry and keep completely curious about the story.
What made this series so great to begin with is perhaps that, is one of the most entertaining and richly animes; furnished with characters arcs in the manga (now in the anime), a beautiful opening, incredible art and a captivating story based in a Victorian London, where you will find the Noah’s Ark Circus, an special circus that will captured your attention, like the citizens of the city.
Between breathtaking performances, the mistery will appear with the vanishment of many children, where the dashing duo of demon butler: Sebastian Michaelis, and his young master: Ciel Phantomhive, will infiltrate the circus and uncover whatever darkness may lie at its core.
If you are into romance, then this anime will be boring to you as it does not contain any of that; but if you want a little bit of action, as a combination of supernatural detective/mystery… you must watch Black Buttler: Book of Circus and ENJOY!
